yeah, i've made the basic shapes in apophysis and combined them with each other in photoshop to get something weird and nice.

I find it hard to "play" with Apophysis like I can with Mandelbulber or Mandelbulb 3D. I can just use those and mess around and get some really awesome shit, but with Apophysis...I can't seem to make anything really interesting. I guess I just have to spend some more time with it. I've seen some of the most INCREDIBLE fractals made with it, and they were just beautiful. Though the same thing goes for Mandelbulb 3D. If you haven't ever used that, btw, I highly recommend it.

as for apophysis - i haven't learnt it as well. i just render some more or less useful shape and then go to photoshop to transform and merge it with something else to get what i'm looking for.
